It’s never too early to give your children a love of exercise. Unfortunately, with the proliferation of video games, computers, and other electronic media your kids may not concern about their fitness and health. There are few simple and fun fitness tests for kids who would let you know about their fitness level and it would be fun for them too. Let’s get to know about them:
- A simple test for balancing: ask your kids to walk on a flat balanced plank and tell them to walk in a straight line. If your child manages to walk without any missteps then that shows that he/she has a good balance or else you need to work on their maintenance of balance.
- A test for strength: ask your child to do sit ups and push ups as much he/she can do. Count the number of sit ups and push ups they have done. The more number of sit ups or push ups they do, the stronger they are.
- Reach their flexibility: Have your child sit with his legs extended and reach out as far as possible. Repeat three times. Measure how far he is able to reach, either in front of or beyond his toes. The further your child can reach the more flexibility he has.
- Run for cardiovascular strength: Have your child run 1 or 2 laps around a standard track efforts and do a “talk test” with her afterward to see how much she truly exerted herself. A faster time on the fitness test equals greater cardiovascular health.
