You may didn’t know but Alexander Edmondson is an Australian track cyclist, who also participated in the Australian Olympic Track Cycling Team in 2012.
Now this young man became the first Australian to win the under 23 Tour of Flanders. He is only 21 years old, and he already managed to show his versatility.
He chased his dream and fulfilled it by becoming one of the most successful sportsmen in Australia.
Edmondson says that his coach Tim Decker was a big support and that he encouraged him to do this race, because he knew he can do it and, and because it was one of his lifetime dreams and goals.
He added “ Mainly it was disbelief, I dreamt of this moment for so long and I’ve probably driven mum and dad nuts the amount of times I said I wanted to win in Flanders.”
What is even more amazing is that this humble young man didn’t even realize he won, he thought that four riders were in front of him.
He was so unaware of what happened that in the beginning he didn’t know how to react, because it was all so sudden and unexpected to him.
Alex knows that he is young and in a good shape and that he will always give 100 per cent on the road, especially because he still doesn’t know his limits.
Even though he is already really successful, he will not stop fighting for better positions, and he will keep on getting better.
