Amid high speculation that he is going to be replacing Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s new head coach, Napoli’s manager Rafael Benitez has just confirmed that he will not be coaching Napoli come next season. Rafael Benitez has spent 2 years with the Serie A based team and the Napoli match that went down over the weekend was his last game as Napoli’s manager.
Benitez, who has coached a Real Madrid youth side back in the 1990s where he enjoyed a nice run, has had a number of success as a coach. His spell at Liverpool without a doubt brought his name to the worldwide audience as he helped the little known Liverpool to win the Champions League final in a dramatic way against one of the world’s bets team at that particular moment which is AC Milan.
Benitez made the announcement of his resignation at a news conference, which was graced by Aurelio De Laurentiis, the club’s president. The News conference, which was held on Thursday before club’s last game, saw Benitez praising the team and thanking the club’s president for allowing him to be Napoli’s manager.
“I would like to thank the president, the club and all the fans because after two years I’m finishing my experience here with Napoli,” he said.”On Sunday we are facing a very important match and I want to conclude my two years here with a victory.
“It’s always sad to leave a job where the people have treated you well from the start and Napoli
was like this to me. My family was key to me making this choice, Aurelio and Napoli have made every effort and we were close to a renewal.”
